Our Mission

Web3 is redefining what’s possible for our industry

Impel was created to provide a cost-effective alternative to legacy financial messaging solutions like SWIFT and SEPA. We use a decentralized, enterprise-ready hybrid blockchain to securely and quickly send financial messages and payments and enable instant settlement.

This approach will provide an interoperable standard for financial data exchange while also streamlining payments and reconciliation. Financial institutions can use Impel as a catalyst to strategically transform their businesses and unlock value-added opportunities enabled by the new standard.

What we offer

Why do businesses choose Impel?

icon-payments
Faster payments

We offer real-time payment settlement, instead of the current 2+ day standard via the central banking system. $XDC can be included in the financial message’s payload for instant settlement, either owned outright by the sender or borrowed as a low-cost solution for instant settlement from a community-supported $XDC pool fund.

icon-lock-1
Military-grade security

Transactions are routed through a secure API that leverages L2 security developed by a team with decades of experience providing secure technology infrastructure for banks and fintechs. Each validating node on the XDC Network is KYC-compliant and features built-in forensic monitoring to quickly target bad actors.

icon-tech-1
Incredibly easy technology adoption

It’s simple and easy to implement Impel’s API for traditional financial messaging — and it’s identical to the current SWIFT API standard.

icon-message-1
ISO 20022-compliant messaging

Impel’s financial messaging meets the ISO 20022 standard, which is quickly becoming the global language for financial messaging.

icon-no-cost
No cost except gas fees

We don’t charge implementation, annual membership, or per usage fees. All you pay is the XDC Network’s near-zero gas fee to send messages/payments. That’s how we offer an extremely low transaction cost — just a fraction of a cent ($0.00001 or less) per transaction.

Simple visibility and management

Impel's service offerings are easy to implement and we provide high-touch, ultra-responsive customer service. Administrative monitoring tools for reporting and management are at your fingertips, and our team is just a message away.

The power of the blockchain

The XDC Network is an enterprise-ready hybrid blockchain for global trade and finance.

Runs on the XDC Network

Impel’s service offerings run on the XDC Network, a top 100 blockchain project* and a layer-1 blockchain protocol that is Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) compatible.

Faster cross-boarder payments

We’re engaged with large global banks, payment companies, and small FIs in emerging markets as part of our pilot implementation roadmap. We expect that Impel’s payment platform will become ubiquitous globally within two years.

The R3 Corda | XDC Network Bridge

nb-r3-2x XDC_R3_Logo

A unique technology, this bridge enables $XDC, the coin native to the XDC Network, to move to and from the public Corda Network and to be used as a settlement vehicle inside of the Corda ecosystem, allowing value to move freely between the Corda public network and public blockchain networks like the XDC Network.

With this unique bridging technology, data can be recorded privately on the Corda network, while limited data sets are transferred to the XDC public network, thereby mitigating institutional risk and turning Corda into a hybrid network. By extension, this shared ledger will connect the XDC token with every other CorDapp on the public Corda Network.

FAQ

  • Can I invest in Impel via a Token?

Impel has no plans to release an XRC-20 token on the XDC Network.

  • What is a blockchain?

A blockchain is a decentralized and distributed digital ledger that’s used to record transactions across many computers, usually referred to as nodes, in a way that prevents individual blocks from being altered retroactively.

  • What are network gas fees?

A gas fee is something all users must pay in order to perform any transaction on the XDC Network. Gas is the term for the amount of $XDC, the native digital asset coin of the XDC Network, required by the masternodes that run the network. Gas fees are usually very inexpensive, around $0.00001 (or less) per transaction, on the XDC Network compared to other layer 1 blockchains.

  • How does the XDC Network compare to other blockchain networks?

The XDC Network is a fork of GO Ethereum and it is an enterprise-grade blockchain. However, it is much more efficient and significantly less expensive to use with a 2-second block time (with finality) and up to 2,000 transactions per second (TPS), with near-zero gas fees of $0.00001 (or less) per transaction.

  • How is Impel’s ISO 20022 financial messaging service different?

Besides being more secure and significantly faster, Impel does not charge a fee to use this service, except for the low XDC Network gas fee for each transaction. This means that Impel is generally a significant lower-cost solution than legacy providers. In addition, digital assets ($XDC or XRC-20) can be used as collateral if included in the message’s payload for instant settlement, rather than using the Central Banking system using nostro/vostro accounts.

  • Are Impel's financial messages ISO 20022 compliant?

    Absolutely yes!

  • Does Impel offer an ISO 20022 demo to try out?

Yes, Impel has a self-paced ISO 20022 compliant financial message demo for you to try at your own pace. Access the demo here.

  • How secure are Impel’s financial messages?

Security is most important at Impel, and transactions are routed through a highly secure API, utilizing a Layer 2 solution that prevents data exposure to unauthorized parties and developed by a team with decades of information technology experience in providing secure technology infrastructure for banks and fintechs. Plus, each validating node on the XDC Network is KYC-compliant and features built-in forensic monitoring to quickly target and eliminate bad actors.

  • Is it hard to implement Impel’s ISO 20022 API?

We’ve designed the ISO 20022 financial messaging API to be plug-and-play, so your team can just replace your existing API with Impel’s version. For instant settlement using $XDC or XRC-20 tokens it requires more advanced setup and handling, but our team is ready to help.

  • What types of collateral can be sent in Impel’s ISO 20022 financial message API?

Currently, you can send $XDC coin, the native digital asset coin for the XDC Network. In the future, you’ll be able to send any XRC-20 tokens on the XDC Network, including stable coins.

  • Who are the best candidates for implementing Impel’s ISO 20022 financial messaging?

Any existing organization that already has implemented ISO 20022 financial messaging, as well as organizations in emerging markets or neobanks who can’t afford the high cost of SWIFT or SEPA.

  • What if I have no existing infrastructure for using Impel’s ISO 20022 API?

Financial Institutions should be using the shift to ISO 20022 to rethink their strategic approach for how payments are integrated into the wider business, infrastructure, and growth strategy. Our highly capable and experienced development team can tailor-fit financial messaging (ISO 20022 compliant standards) and or instant settlement into any business/technology model.

  • What is the R3 Corda Bridge used for?

Impel’s R3 Corda Bridge enables the $XDC coin to move to and from the public Corda Network, specifically to the Cordite CorDapp, where it can be used as a settlement vehicle inside the Corda ecosystem. This data can be recorded privately. Access the bridge here.
